New Major Lazer! Diplo is one of the most underrated talents out there. Each project that he owns has such a different sound and point of view. He is the one of the few producers that really owns his genres and really experiments with unique sounds. This new joint is a great example of this.

Found this song on SVD's Identity 138. Pretty dope electro house, it reminds me a bit of Madeon and Breakbot since it has a bit of a funk vibe mixed with electro. Although Trance is still #1 in my heart, I'm starting to dig electro house and progressive house a lot. SVD <3

I feel like Ice Cube right now, because it was a good day. This kind of stuff never happens to me, so I had to document this.

Maybe it was a reimbursement from God since I was not having the best time last week...

Long story short, on my way to work last week I ran the side of my car into a trashcan. The right side mirror of my car was no longer intact, and the debris fell somewhere onto Wilshire Boulevard. That on top of a stressful workweek...yikes.

I was able to get an appointment at the dealership, but I had to wake up at the crack of dawn in order to make it to work after. While waiting for my car, I stopped by Jamba Juice and Peet's Coffee, rare treats since I don't normally stop by this plaza on the way to work. I was finally able to try Jamba Juice's steel cut oats, which I highly recommend, and I was also able to grab some iced coffee on the way. No acidic Starbucks coffee for me today! SCORE 1

Once I got my breakfast, I checked my E-mail and saw a coupon for endless.com, my go to shoe website. I purchased the coveted Rebecca Minkoff clutch that I had been eyeing for months at discount, tax-free, and shipping fee free. SCORE 2

Shortly after browsing the website, my car was done. I arrived to work on time, with minimal traffic. A miracle in Los Angeles. And, did I mention, listened to the calming tunes of OceanLab, whom I will be seeing this Friday? SCORE 3

I actually had time to take a lunch break today, and went to the Farmer's Market. Purchased a Gyro Wrap from the Zagat Rated Mediterranean stand. The lamb was tender, flavorful, and delicious. Added a Coke Zero with that and I was in heaven. SCORE 4

Leftover Diddy Reese cookies at the office. Snagged a M&M cookie. SCORE 5

Arrived at home to find a severance check from my last job. The amount covered my car repairs for the day, and part of my clutch. SCORE 6

Don't want to jinx myself, but today was a good day. Thanks Karma, it's only fair you know. :)

Found this new track when listening to Schulz State of Sunday from last week. I always get excited when I find good new TRANCE tracks.

Mat Zo has been increasingly interesting to listen to this year. Yes, Mat Zo is signed to Anjuna Beats. But, would one classify his  music as "trance?" He is a bit more complex than your typical "trance" artists. This year especially, he has been pushing the boundaries of his genre, blending and experimenting with new sounds. He is the same artist who produced "Rebound," but he's also the same artist who has come out with "Bipolar," a much more energetic, borderline house track. His fresh and distinct style really started to resonate with me once I heard his latest track "The Sky." One part vocal trance, one part tech trance, progressive all at the same time.



Although I wouldn't say Mat Zo is one of my favorite artist, I can definitely appreciate his artistic insight and his willingness to experiment and push the boundaries and redefine dance music.

To be honest, I didn't think too much of Jochen Miller until I heard him live at Avalon in Hollywood. It blew me away. He really knew how to get the crowd moving, and it was an absolutely amazing set.

I first heard this song at Markus Schulz' 2012 Album Release Party at Avalon in Hollywood. When I found the video on YouTube, I was surprised to find that Fiora is Asian! I think this is the first Asian trance vocalist that I have come across, which is pretty cool. Originally from Australia, Fiora is a classically trained vocalist and violinist, and it's really interesting to see her type of voice being applied to trance music.

why, hello there 2012.

The beginning of a new year has come upon us once again. Just last year I was getting ready to pack up my things and move on to a new adventure: studying abroad in Shanghai. All I would have with me in this new journey would fit into two compact suitcases on a China Airlines flight. It was the first time I would really leave home, my comfort zone of Arcadia/Irvine, and truly be away from my parents or anything I've known for the past 22 years of my life. It seemed just like yesterday when I finished my last "Fall Quarter" at UC Irvine. Without even reflecting back on this time in my life, I've realized another year has passed by. A lot of things have changed. I graduated and found a job. Without a real transition, I jumped from being an international student in Shanghai, to having my first full-time job in the city.

It's amazing how much can change in a year. The point is, time passes by so quickly. I feel like people make a huge deal out of New Year's Resolutions... but I feel like if you have a problem or something you want to change in your life, don't wait until next year to make those changes. Do it now. If you want to say something, say it. Don't let time be your enemy- make it your catalyst for change. Make it your ally in living life to the fullest. Don't dwell on the past because you can't change it. Instead, welcome new friends, experiences, and journeys. #goodvibes
