updates

I haven't posted awhile. Partly due to poor internet connection, and partly due to laziness.
Here are some updates on China, and some thoughts:

China isn't so bad. To truly appreciate the country, you can't keep comparing it with America, or judge it based on American standards. There is a reason why people behave and act the way they do. It's just different.

Beijing is amazing! It has blue skies(unlike polluted Shanghai), and really nice people. The Great Wall is definitely breath taking, and its sheer size helps you view yourself in perspective.

I never thought I'd be learning to ride a bike, especially in China. I also never thought I'd bike to The Bund in Shanghai with 20 kids from California at 3:00 in the morning to catch the sunrise.

Shanghai is the premiere industrialized, urban, financial district of China. Yet, the city itself is not entirely so. The city of Shanghai itself has so many layers. Some urban, some catered to foreigners and expiates, some traditional, and some even underdeveloped. I have a little over a month left here, and I hope to explore all of them.
